Dongguan Trip- 5th day

The last day: Time flies and it’s already the last day. We left quite early in the morning at around 10 pm. We were all very sad to bid farewell to one another. My first few tears in these months nearly rolled down my cheek but I controlled myself. Many students, both Singaporeans and Taiwanese buddies cried. While the bus was leaving, a few of the Dongguan pupils ran along with the bus. It was very touching.
We went to the Science and Technology museum. There were many advanced and exciting electronics games. I played the games so excitedly that I forgot to take any photos there.
Then we went for lunch. Our teacher asked us to pay for the food on our own. The food was nice though I nearly spent over 50RMB. After that, we went to the airport. I bought some more souvenirs and went back home.
Upon arriving in Singapore, I was happy to see my parents but sad as well, as I missed my friends in Dongguan.
It was indeed an unforgettable and fulfilling trip!

Dongguan Trip- 4th day

Fourth day: It rained like crazy today. In the morning after breakfast, we headed for the bus to the Dongguan Exhibition Centre. It was very interesting. I learnt about China’s history and most of the meanings of people’s surname.
After the event, we headed for lunch. We ate at McDonalds and I was surprised that the McDonalds in China was different compared to Singapore. Not only are the prices different but the food were different too.
Sadly after we had eaten, it started to rain heavier. The teacher opened the door and said, “Hope you enjoy your time in the rain!” At first we were puzzled, but when we realized what she meant, we dashed for the bus.
When we reached the school, we went to the music room to rehearse for the night’s performance. We came out of the music room with a furious teacher, because we were so soft that from where the teacher stood, she could barely hear us.
Then, after all the scolding, we headed for their campsite called Life Camp!
The teambuilding activities were very fun. Though we only did two activities due to the rain, it was still worth it.
After the activities in the camp, we went back to the school to have swimming lessons. Again, it was fun. I raced with my Taiwanese friend called Edward. Although I lost, I was only a few cm slower than him. I also raced with my other friends.
After one whole day, it was finally the performance. The Lasallians made a few mistakes, but luckily no one noticed. There were many other Taiwanese performers. They are really talented. We were impressed. After the performance, we went to sleep.

Dongguan Trip- 3rd day

Third day: I woke up in the morning, brushed my teeth and gathered outside the hostel. Ethan had to remind me to fold my blanket. We had to mop the room before leaving for morning exercise. A teacher brought us to the track to have our 800m jog. Then we went for breakfast. After the scrumptious meal, we went for classes.
One unique thing about Chinese schools… after every lesson, the students are given 10 minutes break. They can do whatever they like, such as chit chat or walking around. There was no prefect nor monitor to book the students.
After a few lessons, the teacher brought us to the basketball court to play basketball for Health Lesson!
“Ok! It’s time for lunch!” said the teacher. So, we gathered together and headed for the canteen. After lunch, we gathered at the main hall for a trip to the LED Factory.
It was an eye-opening trip. We had to wrap plastics onto our shoes to prevent germs from entering the factory. I also learnt that LED light doesn’t heat up that that easily and they are energy saving. We received a special lighted lollipop each! We all looked funny when we lit up while sucking the lollipop.
Next, we had a fun time in the restaurant. To finish the food, we played games where the losers had to gobble up the leftovers. Then, our teacher brought us to a shopping mall. There, I bought some souvenirs for my family. My buddies went to buy snacks like chewing gum and others. After all this excitement, it was head back to school and sleep.

Dongguan Trip- 2nd day

Second day: We woke up early in the morning, a little too early, I guess. I felt bored, so I opened my room door and walked outside. I found my friends outside talking to one another, so I joined in the chat. Alright, in the end we got a scolding for opening the door at the hotel and talking to friends.
After breakfast, we headed for the Dongguan Taiwanese School! We shook hands with the principals when we alighted from the bus. They escorted us to a room where all our partners were standing in a two straight rows- one row of girls and one row of boys, who warmly welcomed us. I met Ethan, my buddy, who stayed in my house last September. Luckily he could recognise me!
Then, we had a briefing on what to do and what not to do.
Our buddies escorted us to their hostels. I was pleasantly surprised to see my room. Although it was small, it was nice, clean and cosy. The beds were quite comfortable.
After that, we had a tour around the school, before proceeding to a buffet lunch at the school canteen. After lunch, I thought the pupils were supposed to study or something, but actually, they were supposed to take a nap! Unfortunately I could not sleep as I was not used to it.
After Ethan had his nap for an hour, we proceeded for lessons. I did not understand the lessons in Chinese, but luckily Science was taught in English. For dinner, we went to the lounge instead of canteen. There, we had a chat in the karaoke room with one of the principals. After that, we went to sleep.

My Dongguan Trip- 1st day

First Day: We met at the airport at 5.55am. That was so early!
After a briefing and prayer by our Principal, 20 students and 3 teachers boarded the plane excitedly. The flight was about 4 hours, I think. Upon arrival, we went to eat lunch. The food was delicious! There was this cup with water which looked like tea, so I nearly drank it, but “the tea” was actually water to wash the cup!
Then we took a 1 hour 30minutes ride to the Science and Technology museum. Due to the long journey, there was not much time to tour the museum before it closed, so we went shopping instead.
There was not much to buy in the first mall. It was mainly girls’ things, so we played in the arcade. We went to Walmart and I bought a lot of snacks. I nearly bought a can of red bull but my teacher didn’t allow it.
Later, we went for dinner. I was not all that thrilled with dinner because I had a stomachache. I think I was car-sick due to the long journey on the coach.
After eating, we went to the hotel. It was magnificently beautiful. Then we had our rehearsal for performance in Madam Toh’s room, before going to sleep.
